The Town of Yucca Valley has been offered a donation of art for public display.
A photo of the art is available for review at the Yucca Valley Town Hall, the
Hi-Desert Nature Museum, the Towns Community Development office or the
Yucca Valley Community Center. Placement location for displaying the sculpture
will be determined at a later date upon review by the Public Art Advisory Committee
and the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Commission.
The seven-member PAAC has reviewed the merits of the proposed art donation from
artist Simi Dabah and forwarded a recommendation to the Parks, Recreation and
Cultural Commission (PRCC).
The welded steel sculpture is 20 feet tall and 20 feet wide. It weighs
approximately 2400 pounds.
The Town of Yucca Valleys public arts policy requires a 30-day public
review period during which residents may register comments for or against
accepting the donation. The offer, committee and commission recommendations,
and summary of public comments are scheduled to be forwarded to the Town
Council in April 2010 for formal action on the offer.
